Good school leadership is crucial to improve the performances of teachers and the learning outcomes of students. That is exactly what VVOB Rwanda is working on together with the Rwandan Ministry of Education. In the documentary below we follow a day in the life of Deogratias Tuyisingize.

Deogratias has been active in education for eight years and is currently the school leader of Groupe Scolaire Nkanya, a school in South Rwanda with 3400 students, 74 teachers and 3 care teachers. The leadership of this school requires the necessary competences. That is why Deogratias followed a training in effective school leadership.

“We believe effective and efficient school leaders are essential if student learning needs are to be met. However, a person cannot wake up and be an effective school leader. Leaders are made.”
(Deogratias, representative of graduates at the graduation event)

In the documentary, we follow Deogratias during classroom observations, a meeting with parents, and he testifies about the importance of safe schools and good infrastructure for the quality of education.
